Overview of your Beijing tour

Leave the city at 7, be on the wall by 8:30, and have Mutianyu's watchtowers almost to yourself for the first hour. Cable car up, walk the restored stretch and as far into the wild section as you like, toboggan down if you want to. Lunch in a farmhouse at the foot of the wall, back in Beijing by mid-afternoon.

FAQs

Mutianyu or Jinshanling?

Mutianyu for most people: closer, cable car, toboggan, good restoration. Jinshanling if you want a 3-hour walk with almost nobody; it is 2.5 hours each way and I run it as a 10-hour version.

Is the toboggan safe for kids?

Yes from about 6 with an adult. It is a metal slide with a hand brake; the attendants control spacing.

What about winter?

Winter is the quietest and clearest season. Dress in layers; the wall is windy.

How do I pay?

After the guide confirms your itinerary you receive a payment link for the 20% deposit (card). The balance is charged 7 days before the tour. Sample policy for the demo.
