Zhangjiajie private tours with a local

The sandstone pillars behind Avatar, a glass walkway, and a mountain with a door.

Zhangjiajie's sandstone pillars inspired the floating mountains of Avatar, and the park is as big and as steep as it looks. Routes, buses and lifts inside the park are confusing even for Chinese visitors; a local guide turns a stressful day into a clear one, and knows the viewpoints to reach before the coaches arrive. Tianmen Mountain, with its cliff-edge glass walkway, is a separate day.

Zhangjiajie questions

How many days do I need in Zhangjiajie?
Two days are enough for Zhangjiajie's highlights: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in a day and Tianmen Mountain.
Is a private guide worth it in Zhangjiajie?
Zhangjiajie rewards local knowledge: timing, tickets, which entrance, which table. Our guide lives here, books the tickets in your name and runs the day in the right order, so you spend the hours on the place rather than the logistics.
What does a Zhangjiajie tour cost?
Our Zhangjiajie tours run from $249 to $299 per private group (not per person), for 7 to 9 hours. Entrance tickets and meals are listed separately on each tour.
How do I get around Zhangjiajie?
Day trips use a private car with driver; city tours use the metro, taxis or our guide's bike routes where that is faster. Every stop has its Chinese name and address so you can also move around on your own.
